Tammy Wellman, APRN

Family Medicine

Tammy Wellman, APRN, is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner at Southwest Arkansas Rural Health Clinic in Hope, AR. She brings over four years of compassionate, patient-centered care to the local community. Tammy earned her Nurse Practitioner degree from Walden University and completed her earlier studies at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope (UACCH) and Southern Arkansas University (SAU).

Board certified by both the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Tammy is passionate about delivering comprehensive care that addresses not just the physical, but also the emotional and spiritual well-being of her patients. She believes in forming strong relationships with her patients and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Tammy is an active member of both ANCC and AANP and is committed to staying current in her field to continuously improve the level of care she provides.

Outside of her professional life, Tammy is an avid reader who enjoys camping, spending time with her grandchildren, and making meaningful memories with her family and friends.

Nicole Black, APRN

Family Medicine

Nicole Black, APRN, is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Southwest Arkansas Rural Health Clinic in Hope, AR, where she provides comprehensive, patient-focused care to individuals and families of all ages. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and holds national board certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Nicole has over 15 years of experience in healthcare, including four years as a nurse practitioner. Her extensive background as a registered nurse contributes to her thorough, compassionate approach to care. She is an active member of the American Nurse Practitioner Association (ANPA) and AANP.

Nicole is widely respected in the community and has been honored multiple times as Southwest Arkansas Today’s Nurse Practitioner of the Year, a testament to her dedication and excellence in patient care.

When she’s not in the clinic, Nicole treasures time with her family and never misses an opportunity to cheer on her kids. Whether it's sports, school events, or extracurricular activities, she proudly embraces her role as “that mom” in the stands..

Joan McLean, APRN

Family Medicine

Joan McLean, APRN, is a compassionate and experienced Family Nurse Practitioner at Southwest Arkansas Rural Health Clinic in Hope, AR. With over 32 years of clinical experience, Joan brings a deeply rooted commitment to holistic patient care—addressing not only physical health but also the emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being of her patients.

She earned her Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and is board certified through the American College of Clinical Nursing (ACCN). Her clinical passions include wound care and diabetes management, where she strives to improve quality of life through education and individualized care.

Joan is affiliated with the American Medical Association (AMA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). She has been recognized as the Most Outstanding Christian Graduate of hernursing program and proudly served as president of the Christian Fellowship of Nurses during her academic years.

Outside of the clinic, Joan’s heart for service continues in her personal life. She has been actively involved with the Charitable Christian Clinic since 1991 and dedicates time to Jail Ministry. She also enjoys teaching her senior Sunday school class at Unity Baptist Church and cheering on Alabama football—Roll Tide!

Joan sums up her lifelong commitment to healthcare by saying, “I always believed that God called me to be a nurse from the age of 13.”

Dr. Dale Goins, MD

Family Medicine

Dr. Dale Goins, MD, is a highly experienced Family Medicine physician at Southwest Arkansas Rural Health Clinic in Hope, AR. A proud graduate of the University of Arkansas and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr. Goins has served the Hope community with dedication and compassion for more than 45 years.

With a special interest in geriatric care, Dr. Goins is passionate about providing comprehensive care to patients across all stages of life. His approach to medicine is rooted in a deep belief in treating the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. “As a family medicine physician serving a rural community, I believe in treating the whole person, not just their symptoms. Building meaningful relationships with my patients is the heart of my practice.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Goins has witnessed the evolution of local healthcare—from the days of the county hospital in 1980 to the present—and is proud to have played a role in that growth.

In addition to his clinic work, he also oversees the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic in Hope, where he furthers his commitment to service and access to care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Goins enjoys reading, attending services at First Baptist Church, and spending quality time with his ever-growing family.

Dr. George Garrett, MD

Family Medicine

Dr. George Garrett is a board-certified physician specializing in Family Medicine at Southwest Arkansas Rural Health Clinic in Hope, Arkansas. A lifelong resident of Hope and Hempstead County, Dr. Garrett has proudly served his community for over 45 years, delivering compassionate, comprehensive care across generations of families.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University (LSU), and later completed a second residency in Family Medicine at UAMS. He is board certified by both the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Garrett’s care philosophy is deeply rooted in community and trust:

"I have been a lifelong resident of Hope and Hempstead County. I have been honored to be a small part of the medical community for many years. It is a great privilege to be entrusted with the medical care of many patients, and I consider them to be a part of my extended family."

He is a proud member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Surgeons. Outside the clinic, Dr. Garrett enjoys spending his free time hunting and fishing.
