In compliance with federal regulations from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center makes its standard charges for all items and services publicly available in two ways:
- A comprehensive machine-readable file (MRF) that includes pricing information for all hospital items and services.
- A consumer-friendly display of shoppable services.
What are Shoppable Services?
- Shoppable services are common, non-emergency procedures and services that patients can schedule in advance. CMS requires hospitals to display pricing information for these services in a consumer-friendly format that is easy for patients and families to understand and compare.
- Our shoppable services display helps you estimate costs before receiving care. It includes at least 300 shoppable services, including many of the most common procedures such as:
- Imaging (MRI, CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds)
- Laboratory tests
- Outpatient surgeries
- Maternity and delivery services
- Cardiac procedures
- Orthopedic procedures
What is a Machine-Readable File?
- A machine-readable file is a digital file formatted so that a computer can easily import, read, and process the data (for example, CSV or JSON formats). It contains detailed standard charge information for every item and service provided by the hospital.
- Unlike consumer-friendly displays designed for patients to browse easily, the MRF is intended for systematic analysis by software, researchers, or other tools. It includes comprehensive data on:
- Gross charges (the full, undiscounted charge for each item or service).
- Discounted cash prices (for patients paying in full without insurance).
- Payer-specific negotiated charges (rates negotiated with specific health insurers or plans).
- De-identified minimum and maximum negotiated charges.
Additional Notes
- Accuracy: We make a good faith effort to ensure the information is true, accurate, and complete.
- Recent Updates: Our file incorporates applicable updates, such as those effective in 2025–2026 regarding allowed amount reporting (e.g., median, percentiles).
- The charges in this file represent standard rates and may not reflect your final out-of-pocket costs. Actual payments depend on your insurance benefits, deductibles, copays, and other factors.
